Mike Athans, Partner at Fields, Howell, Athans & McLaughlin, LLP, has been selected to speak at the 2010 Annual Conference of the Council on Litigation Management (CLM). Mr. Athans is slated to speak on the topic “Settlement Days and Private Mediations.”
The conference will be one of the largest, fully inclusive defense industry conferences in 2010. It will be held March 24-26 in Pointe Vedra, Florida, will feature approximately 150 speakers and is expected to draw attendees from around the world. ASI Raises $60,000 for Habitat for Humanity, American Heart Association
ATLANTA- October 8, 2009- American Safety Insurance raised approximately $60,000 for Habitat for Humanity and the America Heart Association at its Sixth Annual Charity Golf Tournament, held October 1, 2009.
The funds, to be divided between the two organizations, were raised through player entry fees, sponsorships, mulligan and raffle ticket sales, as well as an ASI company match. Gold sponsors included Bunker Hill Insurance Agency, CRC of West Glendale, Fields Howell Athans + McLaughlin LLP, HCF Insurance and NIIT Technologies.
“Once again, the day was a huge success because of the generosity of our employees, vendors, customers and business partners, especially given the current economic conditions” said Stephen R. Crim, CEO of ASI and a participant in the tournament, “Our employees enjoy raising money for great causes, and I am pleased that we were able to meet our fundraising goals for the sixth straight year.”
This year’s event was held at BridgeMill Golf Club in Canton, Georgia and boasted more than 130 golfers from across the U.S. Players enjoyed multiple opportunities to win prizes, such as: hole-in-ones for a new car, golf clubs and golf vacations sponsored by Ed Voyles Kia; closest to the pin and longest drive competitions; and a raffle, which offered a grand prize of a weeks’ stay at a private villa and roundtrip airfare for two to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Since its inception in 2004, ASI’s annual tournament has raised more that $225,000 for charitable organizations. In addition to Habitat for Humanity and the American Heart Association, past recipients include Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, ALS Association, Autism Society of America, the Susan G. Komen Foundation and American Cancer Society’s Atlanta chapters.
